The automatic transmission features selectable drive modes (NORMAL / SPORT / WINTER) for safe driving and a customisable driving experience. Normal mode balances the need for economy and power. Sport delivers extra power and Winter starts the car in 2nd gear to prevent slippage when icy.
Part-time four-wheel drive allows the driver to choose when to activate the system, depending upon changing conditions on or off the road. There is the choice of high range 4x4 for slippery conditions or low range for when the going gets really tough.
The 2-wheel drive (2H) mode is preferred under normal operating conditions
4-wheel drive high-range (4H) mode is used when the roads are icy or wet, or when driving off-road.
In 4-wheel drive: low-range (4L) mode delivers the most torque, when maximum towing capacity is required.
Stay in control no matter how steep the incline. A low speed control activates when the vehicle is handling a steep downhill drive, automatically controlling the rate of descent.
Rolling backwards during a hill start is a thing of the past with the Rexton. In these kinds of situations, hill start assist acts as an automatic handbrake and is a great benefit when driving in tricky conditions or when towing.
The new 8-speed, electronically controlled shift-by-wire automatic transmission delivers an efficient response, shifting between ratios smoothly and quietly.
Rexton's NVH levels are much improved over its predecessors, due to it's stiffer body, improved aerodynamics to reduce wind noise, better engine isolation by means of hydraulic engine mounts, improved cabin sealing and lower road and tyre noise. Advanced tools and technologies have been applied to Rexton to suppress NVH and it now boasts some of the lowest NVH levels in its class. Its cabin noise at idle is just 44.0db and its chassis vibration at idle is 95.0Hz.
